Urban apiary and photovoltaic panels on the roof of Galeria Bronowice
Date of event: 24.05.2024
The roof of Galeria Bronowice is teeming with life. Recently, 200,000 bees from the Krainka family have settled here. Insects took over 5 hives in Greater Poland. Additionally, in another part of our space open to the city, photovoltaic panels have been installed.
City apiary
200,000 bees lived in 5 ventilated hives located on the roof of Galeria Bronowice. The wooden structures in which they currently live were made by local craftsmen. Our Krainki are an extremely delicate species, known for their lack of aggressiveness. Due to their good orientation in the field and the ability to quickly adapt, they can be successfully bred in cities. Experienced beekeepers ensure the safety of the inhabitants of our apiary.
Bees, in addition to excellent living conditions, also have access to a flower meadow, which we sow every year in the area next to the shopping center. Flower strip with an area of 3,000 sq m. is made from 71 plant species. It is an excellent shelter for beneficial insect species, filters the air, is self-sufficient, and additionally has undeniable visual values.
Renewable energy sources
The launch of an urban apiary is not the only action we have recently taken with the environment in mind. Photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 100 kWp have been installed on the roof of Galeria Bronowice, thanks to which we not only save money, but also obtain electricity in a planet-friendly way.
