Come and help - charity mezen workshops and fundraising at Galeria Bronowice

Date of event: 23.04.2022 - 24.04.2022

Still invaluable and much needed help for people coming from Ukraine - every, even the smallest gesture counts. That is why this Sunday at Galeria Bronowice a charity workshop in Ukrainian folk art will be held, led by an artist from Kiev: Lolita Igorivna-Wrzeczynska. The "entrance ticket" will be products for refugees. Additionally, everyone who will support the charity collection on April 23-24 receives a gift as a thank you.

Workshops of mezens with Lolita Igorivna-Wrzeczynska: 24.04, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

On Sunday, April 24, it will be possible to get to know Ukrainian art better. During creative workshops, a folk artist from Kiev will talk about the uniqueness of decorating with the mezen method, and the participants of the event will have the opportunity to face this technique by decorating wooden utility items.

Mezen is a folk art with eastern roots popular in Ukraine - it is like a writing whose symbols are like words that make up the whole story. This technique was created at a time when there were no paints yet, so what nature gave - clay and coal - was used then. Therefore, in line with tradition, two colours will appear at the workshop: red and black. Mezen is a simple painting that is closely related to nature and life - heaven, earth and what is in between them.

Everyone can learn this particular style of painting at the workshops at Galeria Bronowice. The meeting will be personally led by the Ukrainian folk artist - Lolita Igorivna-Wrzeczynska, who specializes in traditional drawing techniques. The works will be created on paper and cardboard, but you can use them on a wooden object with a smooth, unpainted surface, e.g. a cutting board or a spoon.

The meeting with the artist will be held in Ukrainian with a translation into Polish. To take part in it, all you need to do is support the fundraiser by bringing the most necessary things for refugees from Ukraine.

- Thanks to the care, kindness, warmth and great support of all the Poles we met in this difficult time, we are alive and have a roof over our heads. I am delighted with the interest in Ukrainian art and I hope that our meeting at Galeria Bronowice will bring you all joy and satisfaction from your creative activities - says Lolita Igorivna-Wrzeczynska.

The workshop will take place on Sunday, April 24, from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. on the ground floor of Galeria Bronowice, in the so-called event zone under the round TV led display The number of places is limited - you can register your participation by sending a message to Galeria Bronowice's Facebook.
