ABC of a young artist with Jan Matejko
Date of event: 25.02.2023 - 10.06.2023
We invite you to workshops for children ages 7-12 at the Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bronowice!
2023 is the year of Jan Matejko, one of the greatest Polish painters and patron of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. By joining the celebrations of the Year of Matejko, we dedicate the continuation of the free art course for children THE ABC OF A YOUNG ARTIST at the Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts Bronowice to the work of the master. The author of the program is Dr Izabela Biela.
For who: for school children ages 7-12.
Where: in the Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Galeria Bronowice (61 Stawowa Street, level 1)
We will continue to explore basic artistic tools such as LINE, COLOUR, FORM, PERSPECTIVE, LIGHT and COMPOSITION. These issues will be enriched with examples from the painting and drawing workshop of Jan Matejko. Workshops in the form of great fun and practical artistic exercises will be based on historical threads, particularly important in the context of historicism in Polish painting.
Each meeting begins with a creative conversation. We want to intrigue children, stimulate their imagination for creative action, explain the issues that will be discussed in the further, practical part of the workshop. We will watch reproductions of works by Jan Matejko and other famous artists, interpret their painting techniques, and learn how the basic principles of art are manifested in famous works. The second part of the workshop is practical tasks. We will draw, construct, sketch, analyse and, above all, learn.
Our goal is to shape creative attitudes and the ability to express them as well as to develop in the field of artistic activity. We want to increase awareness of the creative activities of the youngest, but at the same time - what is important - not to limit their openness and creativity.
We have divided the series of workshops entitled ABC OF A YOUNG ARTIST WITH JAN MATEJKO into six topics. During each of them we will get to know another concept and we will learn about its nature, how to use a specific medium to express in our work what we feel.
